Jubilee Playing Field
All too often we read of reports of youth causing problems within communities however it is with great pleasure I write to report of a major success of the young people of Easton. We have for some considerable time been trying to improve and upgrade the facilities on the Jubilee playing field, the baton to try to achieve this was taken up by Jo Donnelly. She galvanised a team of 9, 14 – 19 year olds who took the ideas of their peers, drafted requirements, progressed designs with specialist playground suppliers to produce a complete scheme for the playing field. The costs for the overall scheme appeared prohibitive, however Jo and her team continued the battle and applied for funding. A team of 8 of the youngsters attended an interview with the Norfolk Youth Fund and were awarded a grant of £49,735.40 for a Multi Use Games Area court and youth shelter. The parish council have proposed to add the monies set aside for the Jubilee playing field to the scheme and Jo will approach the specialist to see which other items we can purchase and what other funding can be obtained.
Plans for the scheme are available for inspection on the village notice boards and the parish council website. It is anticipated that he works will commence early in the new year.
Once again ALL the plaudits for this must go to the youngsters and Jo and her team of adult helpers and we are sure you will join the Parish Council in our sincere thanks.
